Why You’ll Love This Witches Brew

No cocktail shaker needed—just pour everything into a glass, and your witches brew is ready to serve!

No dyes, no fuss—just 5 simple ingredients.

Fresh ginger adds just the right kick, while apple cider brings in cozy fall flavors that are perfect for Halloween parties.

I garnished mine with a dried orange slice, candied ginger, and of course, a tiny black cat candy, because a witch never goes anywhere without her black cat!

You can find them the cat here. They would also be beautiful on our Halloween dessert platter or in a bowl for a fun Halloween movie night.

Witches Brew Ingredients

ingredients used to make the cocktail - halloween party, food coloring, ginger ale, pineapple juice, dry ice

Apple Cider – Cozy, crisp, and full of fall flavor, apple cider makes the perfect base for this cocktail. I love using it in fall drinks like my Apple Cider Bourbon Slushies. You can try ginger ale as well.

Orange Juice – Freshly squeezed orange juice adds brightness and sweetness.

Fresh Ginger – I use a fine grater to add just a touch of fresh ginger for a little spice and warmth. It gives the cocktail its signature zing.

Pomegranate Juice – Adds a deep, eerie drizzle over the top for that spooky Halloween vibe. You can also use for cherry or cranberry juice.

Apple Vodka – A fun way to make this drink boozy for adults. If you want to keep it kid-friendly, just skip the vodka and serve it as a non-alcoholic witches brew.

How to Make Witches Brew

1. Fill an old-fashioned glass all the way to the top with ice.

2. Pour in the apple cider and orange juice over the ice.

3. Grate fresh ginger over the top. Use a Microplane to get a fine grate.

4. Stir the cocktail to disperse the ginger.

5. Slowly pour the pomegranate juice over the top and watch it make the coolest pattern.

6. Garnish the cocktail with dried orange, candied ginger, and a little tiny black cat candy. Pouring pomegranate juice over a Halloween cocktail

Witches Brew Non-Alcoholic

This is an easy cocktail to make without alcohol. The drink will have a very similar taste too! Just leave out the apple vodka and make this with 4 easy ingredients: Apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger, and pomegranate juice.

If you’re making it for kids, you can also leave out the ginger. However, we think it gives the drink a really good flavor. Some kids might not like ginger as much as adults.

Eden’s Recipe Tips

Taste as you go — add more or less of each ingredient until it’s just right for you.

For a spooky effect, drop in a few small pieces of dry ice (use gloves and tongs for safety!) to create that smoky, bubbling brew.

Hosting a crowd? Multiply the recipe by 8 and serve it in a large cauldron punch bowl — your guests will love it!

Always use real apple cider, not apple juice, for the best fall flavor.

If you want an adult version, apple vodka really enhances the flavor.

Halloween Cocktail Garnishes

Cocktail garnishes add a charming touch to the drink. Here are some garnishes that work great with this spooky brew!

Dried Orange Slice

Candied Ginger

Black Cat Licorice

Skull Ice Cubes

Hibiscus Flowers

Witches Brew FAQs

What ingredients are s in witches brew?

Traditionally witch’s brew is a concoction of potions, poisons, and more than a witch brews like stew in a bubbling cauldron. If it’s anything like Shakespeare’s famous poem Song of the Witches: “Double, double toil and trouble,” you’ll want to stay far away from it!

What does a witches brew mean?

It is a mixture of unpleasant things that are cooked together in a hot, bubbling cauldron. During Halloween, different versions are served for fun. We created a tasty version of witches’ brew that can be served at a party. It’s nothing like the original brew and has none of the yucky things!
