Witches brew is a Halloween drink that combines some of our favorite ingredients like apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger and pomegranate juice. This recipe uses apple vodka, but can easily be altered to be a non alcoholic witches brew that is also great for kids! It’s super easy to make and perfect for a Halloween pumpkin carving party or movie night!

witches brew cocktail

If you’re looking for a festive halloween drink, witches brew is for you! It’s the perfect fall cocktail with a spooky drizzle of pomegranate juice over the top. The drink has an eerie feel and look but taste so refreshing! The fresh ginger adds a kick to the cocktail and the apple cider is perfect for Halloween. We used fresh orange juice for ultimate flavor and garnished it with a dried orange slice, candied ginger and a tiny black cat candy. You know a witch never goes anywhere without her black cat!

The best part about this witches brew is that it doesn’t use any dye and is made with just 5 simple ingredients. No shaking or fancy cocktail techniques required, just simply pour the ingredients into a glass with some fresh ginger and that’s it!

Witches Brew Non-Alcoholic

This is an easy cocktail to make without alcohol. The drink will have a very similar taste too! Just leave out the apple vodka and make this with 4 easy ingredients: Apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger and pomegranate juice. If you’re making it for kids you can also leave out the ginger, however we think it gives the drink a really good flavor. Some kids might not like the ginger as much as adults.

Tips for Making Witches Brew

  • Add more or less of each ingredient depending on what you like.
  • Add dry ice for a very cool smoking effect.
  • Multiply the serving by 8 to create an epic witches brew punch. You may need to alter some ingredients, so make sure you taste test. Serve it in a cauldron punch bowl for the ultimate brew!
  • Use real apple cider, not apple juice.
  • If you’re adding alcohol, use apple vodka. It really does add to the flavor.

Witches Brew Garnishes

Cocktail garnishes add a charming touch to the drink. Here are some garnishes that work great with this spooky brew!

Dired Orange Slice

Candied Ginger

Black Cat Licorice

Skull Ice Cubes

Hibiscus Flowers

Drop of Bitters – Add a drop of bitters to create an even witchier brew!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in a witches brew?

Traditionally witches brew is a concoction of potions, poisons and more that a witch brews like stew in a bubbling cauldron. If it’s anything like Shakespeare’s famous poem Song of the Witches: “Double, double toil and trouble” you’ll want to stay far away from it!

What does a witches brew mean?

Witches brew is a mixture of unpleasant things that are cooked together in a hot, bubbling cauldron. During Halloween, different versions are served for fun. We created a tasty version of witches brew that can be served at a party. It’s nothing like the original brew and has none of the yucky things!
