A fun twist on the classic Aperol Spritz! We added lingonberry syrup to this recipe which was inspired by one of our favorite restaurants in Helsinki!

I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Aperol Spritz, but when we were in Helsinki, Finland and we ate lunch in a very quaint and cozy restaurant called Juuri – a must-go if you’re in Helsinki!

The server recommended I order a Lingonberry Aperol Spritz… I was hesitant but went with it since Lingonberry is a staple in Scandinavian dishes. You’ve probably seen it in Ikea in the form of cookies or jam! To my surprise, I absolutely loved this version of an Aperol Spritz cocktail!

It had the perfect sweetness and Lingonberry was the exact ingredient to make this spritzer a favorite of mine! It also complimented the orange in it, so it really tasted more like a berry drink. I wanted to create my own at home, so I ordered this bottle of Swedish Lingonberry syrup to add to my Aperol Spritz.

Bottle on Lingonberry concentrate.

What is Lingonberry?

Lingonberry is related to the blueberry and cranberry. It grows in the Northern Hemisphere in the boreal forest. It’s full of antioxidants and they have a sour and tart taste to them. Truly if you picture a blueberry and cranberry blended together, that’s what the flavor of a lingonberry reminds me of!

I will always keep this syrup on hand to make Lingonberry Aperol Spritz for guests! I love serving a little twist on the classic Aperol Spritz recipe and a slice of Finland when I entertain!

Isn’t that what traveling is all about?! Exploring and then adding in little pieces of your favorite parts from the trip into life back home... it is for me at least!

What is an Aperol Spritz?

An Aperol spritz is an Italian bitter apéritif, cava or prosecco, and then soda water. It’s a bright orange color and when served with ice, it’s very refreshing during the summer. For this recipe, we added a dash of lingonberry concentrate which gives it even more flavor.

It’s truly the most refreshing summer cocktail!
