Sparkling Margarita Ingredients

This drink uses simple ingredients you can find at your local grocery store or liquor store.

Tequila – Use Blanco tequila or reposado tequila for this recipe.

Lime Juice – Fresh squeezed lime juice only. The fresh lime juice will give the drink the best flavor.

Grapefruit – You can use freshly squeezed grapefruit or you can use store-bought, no-sugar-added grapefruit juice.

Sparkling Rosé – You can find all of the sparkling wines. You don’t need an expensive bottle to make this drink.

Simple Syrup – This is added to give the drink a little sweetness. It’s made by using equal parts sugar and water and simmering it on a stove. You can follow our guide to making simple syrups to learn more. You can also use agave nectar instead of simple syrup.

Orange Liqueur – This helps to balance the flavors in the drink.

Expert Tips

Salty – Feel free to add a pinch of salt to the rim or a few slices of fresh lime for garnish. I like to use pink Himalayan salt for this drink.

Wines – If you don’t want to use sparkling rosé, you can use sparkling white wine or champagne.

Boozy – If you want a stronger drink, add an extra shot of tequila.

Skinny – Feel free to adjust the amount of simple syrup depending on how sweet you like your drinks.

Zesty – Add a little lime zest over the top of the drink for more fragrance and flavor.

Garnishes – Add a lime wedge, edible flower, dehydrated orange slice or a grapefruit wedge to garnish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Gran Marnier instead of Cointreau?

Yes, you can use Grand Marnier instead of Cointreau in a margarita. It will give the drink a unique flavor, as it is made with cognac and oranges, giving it a more luxurious taste than Cointreau.
