This 3-ingredient gin spritz is my go-to cocktail! Just gin, jam, and bubbles. It’s easy, fizzy, and so fun. The jam adds the perfect hint of sweetness and color, and you can switch it up with whatever flavor you’re into that day.

Why You’ll Love This Gin Spritz

This recipe is a take on my classic gin and jam cocktail. After making gin and jam for years, I wanted to switch it up and give it some spritz! Here’s why I love it:

Perfect anytime drink: Works for happy hour, brunch, or impromptu guests.

Only 3 ingredients: Nothing fussy here—just gin, jam, and something bubbly!

Customize the flavor: Blackberry, raspberry, fig… use your fave jam.

Instant charm: It looks fancy with zero effort (just add edible flowers and fruit).

Gin Spritz Ingredients

Gin, jam and betty buzz lemon lime water to make a gin spritz.

Gin: Go for something botanical and smooth—it plays so well with jam.

Jam: Any flavor you love! I rotate between strawberry, blackberry, and grape.

Sparkling Water or Soda: Lemon-lime is perfect, but any citrus fizz works. I used Betty Buzz!

Best Gin for a Gin Spritz

Not all gins work equally here. Because the jam is doing the sweetening, you want a gin that’s light and botanical — not too juniper-forward.

My favorites are Hendrick’s (floral, cucumber notes that play beautifully with fruit jams), Empress 1908 (stunning purple color, naturally pairs with berry jams), and St. George Botanivore for a more complex sip. Save the heavy London Dry gins for a classic gin and tonic — they can overpower the jam here.

How to Make a Gin Spritz

  • Step 1: Combine. Add 2 oz gin and 1 tbsp jam to a shaker with ice.
  • Step 2: Shake. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds until chilled.
  • Step 3: Strain & Top. Strain into a glass with fresh ice and top with 3 oz lemon-lime sparkling water.
  • Step 4: Garnish. Add fruit and an edible flower!

Recipe Tips & Variations

Jam It Up: Use any jam you love—raspberry, peach, or blueberry all give a delicious twist.

Swap the Spirit: Not into gin? Vodka works perfectly for a smoother, cleaner sip.

Fizz Matters: Try lemon-lime soda, tonic water, or sparkling water with a splash of citrus.

Garnish Like a Pro: Top with fresh berries, citrus peel, edible flowers,, or a sprig of mint for extra charm.

Best Jam Flavors for a Gin Spritz

This is where you can get creative. Here’s what I’ve tested:

  • Strawberry: The classic, works with every gin, beautiful pink color, just like my Hibiscus sour!
  • Blackberry: Deep, rich flavor, gorgeous dark color, amazing with Hendrick’s.
  • Raspberry: Bright and tart, my pick for favorite things brunch.
  • Fig: Unexpected and sophisticated, perfect for fall.
  • Peach: Light and summery, great with citrus sparkling water.
  • Grape: Sweet and nostalgic (makes a great mocktail!).

FAQs

Can I use prosecco?

Yes! Swap the sparkling water for prosecco for a more elegant, wine-forward version. Use about 3 oz of chilled prosecco in place of the sparkling water and skip the ice in the shaker — just stir the gin and jam together, strain into a glass, and top with bubbles.

What is a gin spritz?

A gin spritz is a light, bubbly cocktail made with gin and a sparkling mixer — usually sparkling water, soda, or prosecco. This version adds jam for natural sweetness and color, making it a unique, customizable twist on the classic spritz format.

What’s the difference between a gin spritz and a gin fizz?

A gin fizz is a classic cocktail made with gin, fresh citrus juice, a sweetener, and club soda — often shaken until frothy. A gin spritz is lighter and simpler, typically topped with sparkling water or prosecco and served over ice. Less work, just as refreshing.

What jam flavors work best?

Almost any jam works! Strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry are my favorites for color and flavor. Peach is perfect in summer, fig feels elegant in fall, and grape adds a fun, sweet twist. Use a good quality jam with real fruit — it makes a big difference.

Can I make this into a mocktail?

Yes! Skip the gin and use a botanical sparkling water (like Fever-Tree Elderflower or a citrus sparkling water) in its place. The jam still gives you the sweetness and color — it’s delicious without the alcohol.
