Being a Margarita fan, I love coming up with different versions of the classic Margarita. I made something similar to these shots years ago, and they became a Pinterest sensation! I served them at a brunch, and everyone loved them, so I decided to recreate them, making them more of a shot recipe, aka stronger.

They are still not too strong, but they have a kick and are perfect for get-togethers, taco nights, or a Cinco de Mayo party.

If you need more shot recipes, try my Jolly Rancher, Gummy Bear, and Birthday Cake shots if you love party shots. They’re all great for parties.

Why I love These Mini Margaritas

  • The presentation is adorable, and everyone loves it.
  • Made with fresh juice and no mixers.
  • They are not too strong, but they still have a kick to them.
  • They are the perfect welcome drink for parties.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping List

These shots are made with simple ingredients you can find at your local grocery and liquor stores:

Tequila: Of course, no margarita is complete without tequila! Use blanco tequila or gold tequila.

Lime Juice: The tartness of fresh lime juice balances out the sweetness of the other ingredients in this recipe. It also adds a refreshing citrusy flavor to the drink.

Orange Juice: Adding orange juice brings more fresh citrus flavor. It adds a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor that pairs perfectly with the tequila.

Agave: Agave is a natural sweetener made from the agave plant and used in tequila. Its rich, honey-like flavor adds just the right amount of sweetness to this drink without overpowering.

Pouring and Serving

I like to serve these in mini tequila bottles after pouring the tequila out to use in the recipe. The bottles make the cutest “shot glass” for this recipe. There are so many versions of mini tequila bottles, so choose one that fits your theme.

Use a small funnel if you need a steady hand for pouring.

You can also use shot glasses or small cups if you don’t have mini tequila bottles. Serve the shots with salt on the rim for a classic margarita touch. Get creative and try different rim options, like sugar, chili powder, or Tajin seasoning.

I like to serve them on a platter with a lime wedge and a little pile of flaky sea salt.

Serve these with a giant taco salad, taco bar, or any of these delicious Mexican desserts!
